Wednesday climbing meets 2 Months, 1 Week ago
I'm new to the area and keen to get involved with the NMC.

I went to Drakestone last Wednesday (10th Sept) only to find no-one there,
I arrived at about 7ish and stayed for half an hour.

I'm planning to go to the meet at East Woodburn next Wednesday and wanted to make sure that someone would be there...

can anyone let me know if they'll be any climbing going on next wednesday...

Ta, Ryan

Sorry you had a wasted trip to the Drakestone. I imagine that everyone else must have been put off by the showery weather forecast. As it happened it stayed dry - I was bouldering at Rothley and it was damp in places but the rock was generally dry and we had a good evening. I know that several folk went to Sunderland Wall.

It's really unusual for no-one to turn up at the scheduled venue but the weather has been so poor over the last couple of months that I think many folk have resorted to going to Sunderland wall.

Hopefully it will be dry next Wednesday and there will be a good turn-out for Wolf/East Woodburn. I suggest that you keep an eye on the forum.

All things being equal - I'm planning on heading to Wolf on Wednesday.

It's short, you don't need a rope much but you can get a lot in before it gets dark.

cheers

Ryan,

Welcome to the NMC forum. I can confirm Richard's post above, it really is unusual for no one to be there. The weather has been so c r a p recently and I know of a few folk (myself included) who have turned up at the crag in seemingly good weather only to find themselves under a big rain cloud ten minutes later...

The meet next week is a bit of a strange one, because half the people go to East Woodburn and half go to Wolf, although we meet at the same pub later on. If it rains the default location is usually Sunderland wall at this time of year.

If no one posts on the forum then give us a shout on 07824 627 772 and I'll let you know what the plan is.

Possibly you hold the record for lowest attendance on a meet this year. I thought Peter and I would hold onto that distinction after our trip to Jack Rock earlier this "summer". Well done.

Thanks fo letting me know Richard.

sounds like they'll be some climbing going on next week - regardless of weather..

the only thing I can imagine going wrong is that
A) It rains, so people go to Sunderland wall
AND
I go to Sunderland, but go to the wrong wall (would be just my luck)

Is there only one indoor wall in Sunderland?
and if there is, whats the address?

This should make things idiot proof for me.

Cheers,

Ryan
