NMC meet to the Roaches 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
An excellent mini-meet to the BMC Whillans Hut last weekend. Thanks to Jon (and Amanda) for organising. I went along just for the accommodation on Friday en route to Cliffhanger. Though Saturday was a bit clod and grey i was tempted back to the fine hut and the promise of fine weather on Sunday. That did indeed happen, and joined by friend of the club Reg we picked off a few classics in the lower grades. Right Route, Beckermet Slab, Maud's Garden and Inverted Staircase add up to 10 stars but I would have given Beckermet the 3 star treatment. It was a Diff in my old guide and is now Severe. Alison found it tough and I just need to get some photos into the system so you can see for yourself. Jon and Amanda were picking off many more routes a grade or two harder. Fantastic venue and a quirky hut, now sadly missing the King and Lord of the Roaches.

Excellent stuff Colin, the Roaches is a great crag but I've never used the hut (do you have an photos of it?)

Thanks very much for the trip report... great stuff, especially if you're not getting out.

I think you were wrong. Colin's been let out of his house by his missus quite often lately. He's everywhere! Omnipresence!

Not him, yer daft Herbert, me!! I'm not getting out

A great benefit of trip reports is to folk who're not getting out climbing - good to read about trips out, even if they're just Wednesday evening meets.

Sad thing is the kids around today can't be arsed to post trip reports, appearance they give is that they don't give a toss bout anyone outside of their little group ~ very blinkered vision, selfish as well. IMHO.

Steve

Remind me - what is the image size and resolution in pixels you need to post photos?

You can post pretty much any size -but- its prolly best to chop 'em to an equivalent of 800x600 or 600x800 if they're portrait format. If you save them as jpegs at 75% quality they should be plenty fine (on a monitor you'll think they're spanky new, super fine resoultion anyhoo )

Excellent stuff!!

and, since its you Colin, yes I can add a link:

Colin's phoatoes of the Roaches are to be seen here

There are some corkers in there Colin, but I'm a scaredy cat and wouldn't actually say which made me smile the most, tho' I will give a tip: "acerbic observation"

Colin's photatoes (photos of potatoes I suppose) are really small. I can't view them very well and the slideshow function of the gallery doesn't work.
