Peel Crag meet 1 Year, 2 Months ago
The evenings are definitely getting shorter. Not last off the crag but second last (the honour of last goes to Ross). Annie wanted just one more route so something called Easy Crack seemed in order. Is it me or are the VDiffs a bit tough at Peel? I had already found Ribstone Crack quite challenging but Easy Crack was anything but easy. Above the first pinnacle there was a bit of a sharp pull up by a crack (the crack itself looked hard) and I somehow found myself on another pinnacle looking down the other side of the buttress. The final heave to safety was scary. Annie forunately couldn't see the moves because it was dark when she finished.

After a pint at the Twice brewed it was home to watch 2 minutes of video from Look North. I had 15 seconds of fame appearing as an orienteering "coach" on an article about Sportskids!

Last off honours actually went to Tim and Richard.

Good night's climbing with John. Started with Ulysses, followed by botany and Apollo (nice crack surrounded by botany and dodgy bits) to finish with a braille ascent of Odysseus.

Ross

Now I've cracked it, night climbing! - if you can't see what you're doing you don't know you're going to fall! Actually I had a great night. Been a while since i've ventured out on a Weds night meet. And the company was good too, thank you to Freefall for leading and general chat.

Ani
