Anyone around Newcastle this weekend interested in climbing? New member, mostly indoor experience. Have car will travel. Gimme a buzz if interested 07971137723. Colin.
Hi Colin - myself one or two colleagues similar experience to your own looking to get up to Causey Crag sunday, failing that Sunderland wall. Mobile out of action today but I'll have it on tom - feel free to text/call - 07758219928 if you want to come along
Causey? I imagine it'll be awful at the moment - the rains'll have washed loads of soil down the routes and it'll be pretty dank in there. If you've got transport, Curtis Crag may suit your experience better than Causey and it has a decent chance of being dry. Also, East Woodburn - it's south facing. You could spend a day doing both of them.
Scugdale is much better; bouldering, routes...millions to do. Hardly anything quality in lower grades to do at Curtis or East Woodburn. Almscliffe is one of my first loves early in my climbing career. For a small crag(s), it holds lots more 3 star routes of all grades (by the whole country standard; not just one county) than some other crags put together. The downsides are popularity and polish. It has to be visited at some stage in any climbers' career.
if the weather stays as nice as it is at the moment I would love to go outside.
Eva and I will probably be doing something on Sat. John Traff was saying that he and Amanda want to get out as well but had not decided yet where to go. I guess we might go somewhere north of Newcastle. As it might be a full day, it might be worth travelling as far a Bowden.
If you fancy doing something on Sat just let us know
Can you let us know where you go on Saturday? I am free pm. Preparation needed for trip to Hen Hole on Sunday (just Stephen and I going at the moment so space in a car for two more)
Hey Sarah,
yea definitely up for something on Saturday, what are you guys thinking of? If you need a driver I don't really mind? I am a novice, though not completely clueless.. Hope you don't mind. Colin.
