Subscribing to NMC Calendars

iCalendar, often referred to as iCal, is a standard internet calendar format that enables users to create and share electronic calendars across different computers and different programs.

As the format continues to grow in popularity, many companies have chosen to use the iCalendar standard. Apple's iCal, a personal calendar application that runs on the Mac OS X operating system, is one of many programs that currently use this format. Others include Mozilla Sunbird and Microsoft Outlook.

XML is short for "Extensible Markup Language," a simple, standard system for creating markup languages. While HTML is composed of a fixed set of elements, XML is a more flexible schema for describing data structure.

Allowing designers to create and define their own customized, industry-specific tags, XML facilitates the exchange of a wide variety of data on the web.

Outlook 2007

Apple iCal

Open iCal, then click Calendar on the menu bar, and then Subscribe.
You can then paste in the URL from Google Calendar into the subscription URL text box.
iCal will then create a calendar for you. You can rename the calendar as you please, and you can define the refresh interval. You can even remove the alarms and notifications if you wish.
