At an informal meeting at King's College, Newcastle upon Tyne, on 31st May 1945, 46 years after the first recorded rock climb in Northumberland, the Northumbrian Mountaineering Club was founded.

Today the club continues from strength to strength. Welcoming new members of all abilities whilst at the same time our members climb at every grade both in Northumberland and elsewhere, summer and winter alike.
